Carefree One-Touch Awning
Carefree One-Touch Awning
One-Touch is Carefree's electrically operated awning that is actuated by a key-operated control module that features a rocker switch to extend or retract the awning. To prevent damage to the motor and circuitry, the power control module monitors the current drawn by the motor. If preset factory levels are exceeded, the module shuts off power to the unit. This will happen if the switch continues to be operated after the awning is fully retracted or extended.
Normally, the awning is extended or retracted by operating the power module, but there may be occasions when it is necessary to override the system and operate to awning manually. This would be the case when the 12-volt battery is too low for successful operation, or in the event of a mechanical failure with the drive system.
Emergency Retraction
If 12-volt DC power from the R.V. becomes unavailable for any reason, it is possible to operate the awning by using an alternative 12-volt power source.
- Disconnect the power plug from the motor.
- Attach the cable from a set of jumper cables to one of the terminals on the bottom of the motor housing.
- Touch the opposite jumper lead to the other terminal.
- If the awning does not retract, reverse the leads.
- It is necessary to maintain contact with the jumper cables throughout the entire process of retracting the awning.
Caution: Be careful when retracting the awning in this manner. The awning may move abruptly.
