Available positions at Smith's RV Centre



Smith’s RV Centre is searching for two individuals to join our team and fulfill the Receptionist duties.  If you are available to work one to five days a week we would love to hear from you.  We hope to find two individuals whose time requirements complement each other for an all-win schedule.  The position offers seasonal employment with the opportunity for extension depending on seasonal sales volume.


You will find yourself in an enjoyable, friendly and fast paced environment as the first smiling face that greets our customers both in person and on the phone.  Customers range from new to experienced outdoor enthusiasts and they all require a friendly professional to help guide them quickly, clearly and kindly.  Our experienced team will be available to help train and back up when knowledge is required.


A love for the outdoors and previous administrative experience would be considered an asset.


Key responsibilities:


  • Greets customers and direct them to the appropriate department or individual.  Touching base regularly with the customer if waiting.
  • Answer and forward incoming texts and telephone calls, including taking messages.  Answers general questions as needed (i.e. location, hours, etc.)
  • Updates the after-hours message for change in store hours, holiday/inventory/etc. closures, sale events, etc.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure the customer experience is seamless and enjoyable.
  • Prepares unit packages including manuals, warranty cards, licensing, pleasure craft licenses, serial numbers and any other items/documentation as required.
  • Creates signage as needed including sales signs, parts signs, etc.
  • Provides additional support for Customer Relations Specialist as needed.
  • Inputs employee monthly work schedules into online payroll program.
  • Prepares outgoing mail and monitors the balance on postage meter.  Refills meter when needed.
  • Prepares invoices for goods and services as needed.
  • Performs clerical duties such as word processing, faxing, and photocopying as required.

Smith’s RV Centre is searching for an individual to join our experienced administrative team and thrive in our Accounting Administrator position.  Combine your passion for details with our proven practices and join a culture that is thriving even in the current market conditions.  Past experience and education in a relevant accounting position would be preferred. The ideal applicant is driven by a desire to perfect the tasks in which they get involved through a steady-pace and precise approach.


Core function:

Ensure inventory is maintained in the system and that all necessary paperwork has been properly processed in a timely, efficient manner.  Accurately record and verify account payable and receivable items while providing support where needed in the day to day operations of the company. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Processes inventory orders, confirmations, and updates.  Notifies necessary departments.
  • Codes, totals, verifies and reconciles account payables.  Follows up on discrepancies with the appropriate department.
  • Reconciles monthly credit cards and vendor statements in a timely manner.
  • Organizes cheque runs to ensure all invoices have been paid on time.
  • Prepares entries for life, disability and extended warranty sales.
  • Contacts vendors regarding missing invoices, credits and payments by credit card.
  • Organizes and performs daily till deposits and errands including banking and licensing.
  • Ensures warranty A/R’s are reconciled and process warranty payments.
  • Assists with routine Windows updates.  Understands and assists with payment processing equipment.
  • Provides the necessary backup for Controller and Reception.
  • Maintains the office filing system.
  • Obtains quotes and places orders for general company expenses.
  • Prepares border paperwork and communicates with manufacturers, haulers, brokers and Environment Canada.

Salary Range - $24-$34/hr

Efficiency bonus - up to an additional $16/hr


Smiths RV Centre is looking for apprentice or certified plumbers, electricians, carpenters, or RV technicians looking to expand their skills and improve their work-life balance right here in Thunder Bay.


We are looking to hire and train a professional with a trades background, any where from an experienced RV Technician to an apprentice trades person.  The RV Technician position allows an individual to learn and practice a number of different trades in the comfort of our indoor, heated and fully equipped service centres either here in Thunder Bay or at our offsite location near twin city crossroads. 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Inspect and perform warranty repairs on new units arriving from the factory
  • Inspect and perform repairs on used units purchased from customers
  • Prepare units for customer delivery to ensure all systems operating as designed
  • Perform propane safety checks and repairs (Smiths provides employee with necessary certification)
  • Install vehicle hitching, wiring and weight distribution kits
  • Perform warranty appliance troubleshooting and repair
  • Diagnose and repair electrical concerns with assistance of a multimeter
  • Carpentry repairs including, flooring, wall panelling, exterior aluminum replacement, damaged framing replacement, etc.
  • Plumbing includes fresh water and waste water systems similar to home applications
  • Electrical repairs includes both 12V and 120V
  • Aftermarket installs including solar systems, awnings, accessibility modifications
  • Insurance repairs include tree impact, hail damage, water damage, etc
