    Your Summer Guide to Thunder Bay Events

     

    There’s a lot happening over the summer in Thunder Bay, Ontario but what are some of the must see and do’s? Check out our listing here of the top events happening in the area.

    Canada’s Birthday!

    Canada is 149 years old! And they’re celebrating in style. Friday July 1st at the Thunder Bay Marina Park come on down for Canada Day on the waterfront and enjoy activities and fun for the whole family.  From 5-11pm, visitors can enjoy live music and performances, with headliners Poor Angus. There will be hand drumming workshops where you can learn to drum with the best. The Lakehead Canoe club and Wilderness Supply Company will be on hand all day for guests to enjoy canoeing, kayaking and dragon boating. There will be a splash pad and many other activities for kids, and end the evening with a bang and enjoy the biggest fireworks display over the water!

    CAN-AM Police Fire Games

    Come on down to Thunder Bay July 16th- 24th and watch the city’s finest go head to head in competitive sporting events.  The CAN AM Police Fire Games is an annual event where over 12,000 competitors from police, fire, EMS and more are expected to participate this year.  There are 30 activities located across the city from cross fit competitions to cycling races, to slow pitch volleyball. They’ll even compete in the kitchen with a Chili Cook-off. All of the proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Clubs and Special Olympics of Thunder Bay.  For more information on the events you can visit www.thunderbaycanam.com. Come cheer on your local heroes!

    Red, White, and All-Canadian Blues Fest

    The blues fest at Marina Park will run July 8-10th. Visitors can enjoy live music in the tone of blues, rock, roots, and swing.  It’s a weekend long music festival with headliners Tom Cochrane, Colin James, and Burton Cummings, along with some local and upcoming acts.  The Marina will also be packed with vendors serving up some of your local food favorites, arts and craft booths, and activities for the whole family.
